LOVE was inthe air atKing’s Hawford school, Claines, near Worcester, when pupils proved that romance was alive and well.

Youngsters celebrated Valentine’s Day in style with a range of themed activities and events. They were invited to dress up for the occasion for a £1 donation and take part in a special Valentine’s themed fashion show, with prizes awarded to Hawford’s very own Miss and Mr Valentine.

Budding poets crafted romantic poems and those with artistic flair designed and made their own Valentine’s cards, with the efforts voted top by a judging panel receiving special prizes.

The event doubled up as a fund-raising activity with £400 being shared between St Richard’s Hospice and the Mercian Regiment.

Jim Turner, headteacher at King’s Hawford, said: “In addition to the individual donations from those who were dressed to impress, the children raised further funds for our chosen charities by selling love hearts throughout the day.

“The action-packed day was concluded with a Valentine’s disco.”
