GIRL Guides will be able to fly their flag with pride thanks to a community fund donation.
Guides from 1st Inkberrow will use a donation of £380 from the Co-operative’s Community Fund to replace their damaged unit flag as well as buy new event shelters. Samantha Gisborne, from 1st Inkberrow Guides, said: “This grant from The Co-operative has been a huge benefit to us as our old flag was becoming unfit for purpose.”
Members of the Co-operative Group can elect to donate all or part of their twice-yearly dividend payments directly to the fund. Zoe Bartlett, area membership officer for the Co-operative, said: “Because our members own the business, they get a share in any of the profits we make. It’s a scheme we’re very proud of, not only because it gives us the chance to thank members for shopping with us, but because so many people choose to give something back to local communities.”
