DRIVERS are urged to take care on Worcestershire's roads tonight as winter maintains its icy grip on the county.
Breaks in the cloud overnight could force road surface temperatures to drop below freezing, leading to a low risk of a patchy frost in places where drizzle has fallen.
Worcestershire County Council's fleet of 31 gritters will be treating main roads from 6pm and ensuring grit bins are topped up. They will remain on standby over the weekend.
Worcestershire County Council's highways manager, Jon Fraser, said: "Although the frost predicted for tonight is nothing like we were experiencing a few weeks ago, the safety of drivers on the roads is our prime concern so we're continuing to do everything we can to support them.
"We'd like to remind residents and businesses again that grit is a support for careful driving rather than a miracle solution to slippery conditions on the roads, so do please continue to drive with care."
