A TALENTED student with an eye for words and pictures has made it through to the national finals of a prestigious competition.
Katherine Thompson, a student at Worcester Sixth Form College, won the Worcester Vigornia Rotary Young Writer Award and also the Young Photographer Award and has now triumphed at the district competition for the young writer award.
Her work will now be considered by judges at the national finals and the winner will be announced shortly.
Entrants were asked to write a letter and take photographs on the theme of peace and in Miss Thompson’s letter Dear Julia an unborn child speaks to its mother.
The 17-year-old first year student is studying AS levels in computing, mathematics, performing arts, photography and physics.
She is also a member of the college’s maths academy.
Writer Sue Johnson also supported students by providing a leaflet plus advice and guidance for hopeful young writers.
