ORGANISERS of a free disability sports event have hailed it a success after more than 60 people turned out.
A variety of sports were on offer during the Disability Sport Worcester open day at Perdiswell Leisure Centre including wheelchair basketball and football, adapted rowing and even boccia.
Young people aged between six and 25 years old with a range of learning and physical disabilities took part in the event.
Some families travelled from Malvern to take part. There were also representatives from a range of organisations and groups including Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club disability group, who were on hand to give information about the services they offer.
Hannah Cox, sport development manager at the city council and secretary of Disability Sport Worcester, said they were looking to hold more events in the future.
“It was just brilliant,” she said. “We had about 60 people on the day. We were absolutely amazed. What was really good was whatever their ability, people could get involved. It was really enjoyed.
“We had some brilliant feedback and requests to have another event.”
