IT is an absolute nightmare that we have lost Matt Kvesic and Matt Mullan as they are two solid lads who have massive England futures.
Maybe Worcester need to look at their infrastructure as we need to keep hold of these type of players. Ideally, we need to keep hold of all players of this calibre, but those two have slipped through the net.
It is understandable that our fans are disappointed — they want to turn up and see good players each week — players like Kev and Mulls — so it is a bitter pill to swallow that they will be leaving.
However, I’m sure the guys coming in will be good quality and will replace them.
I played against Paul Warwick when he was at Stade Francais and I was at Toulon and he was outstanding that day, the best player on the pitch.
He is a great signing and although he is 32, that is nothing these days — there are lots of players playing on into their late 30s because of the quality of conditioning in the sport.
The LV= Cup defeat at London Irish just goes with the trend of how we are playing at the moment.
We have focused on attack for the last few weeks and the lads came off the pitch in Reading very positive about how we had attacked.
The things we’ve worked on are good, but we have been so attack-focused recently that we dropped off our defence against Irish.
When we play them in the league, we will have brushed up on our defence — Phil Larder is back in this week and he will make sure of that.
We play Saracens this weekend, but we are pretty much out of all of the cup competitions now in terms of qualifying, so we are focusing on the Aviva Premiership match at Bath in a couple of weeks time.
However, every time any of us step onto the pitch — regardless of who we’re playing and in what competition — we just want to win that game of rugby.
This time of year, when there is a break from league action, is always a good chance to have a look at where you are and think about how you can finish the season well.
Players moving clubs and the speculation we get at this time of year is just part of rugby — the guys are professionals and there is always a lot of movement around now.
If anyone was slacking off and didn’t want to play for this club, Hilly would soon clamp down on that, but we have a good set of lads here, so we won’t come across that.
The players are all pros and they put their body on the line for the club every time they step onto the pitch.
