OOZING with glitz and glamour, Britain’s biggest burlesque extravaganza was a naughty but nice conclusion to a bank holiday weekend.
An Evening of Burlesque has returned for a second spectacular after its 100-show debut tour was critically-acclaimed both at home and overseas.
For 2013, a fresh cast of burlesque all-stars take to the stage in a riotous romp into the bizarre world of burlesque and cutting-edge variety.
Coming directly from London’s West End, this decadent feast for the eyes and ears delivered a delectable evening of tantalising, yet tasteful, entertainment.
Harking back to the golden era of the fascinating art form, the show’s gorgeous and gifted dance troop, The Folly Mixtures, sizzled on stage in their authentic costumes, enticing the audience with a carefully choreographed wink or wiggle.
Variety was provided by highly amusing and equally skilled magician, Christian Lee, jaw-dropping acrobat, Jonathan Finch, who induced gasps from the crowd with his gravity defying show of strength and flexibility, and mesmerising hula-hoop artist, Chloe Hannah Lloyd.
The Voice finalist, Samuel Buttery, was master of ceremonies for the evening, ensuring the show ran smoothly with the assistance of his able stagehand, Zoe, and, in turn, demonstrating his own vocal talent by performing a varied repertoire ranging from Nina Simone to Tina Turner.
We found this lip-smacking showcase an ideal introduction to the world of burlesque and it left us hungry for more.
