WORCESTER Wolves head coach Chuck Evans is hoping to finalise the paperwork for new signing Nerijus Karlikanovas in time for tomorrow’s British Basketball Lea-gue clash with Leicester Riders at the University of Worcester (4pm tip-off).
The 33-year-old Lithuanian flew into England last night to bolster Wolves’ attacking options.
The six-foot eight-inch forward spent a season with Guildford Heat in 2008 and will join compatriots Evaldas Zabas and Vidmantas Uzkuraitis at the club.
“Nerijus will give us more options offensively,” Evans said.
“He adds firepower to our side and we are working hard to get the paperwork through in time for the Leicester game.”
Evans is hoping his side can pick up their second successive home victory when they take on Leicester. But the Wolves head coach knows it is not going to be easy against the free-scoring Riders.
“They regularly score more than 100 points in a match,” Evans said. “We have to be on our game defensively to try and stop them.
“We have to be focused because they are a potent force.”
Having beaten London Cap-ital 98-80 at home last week, Evans will be hoping that Zabas can continue the form he showed in the London win when he scored 25 points.
