ANTHONY Martin has become the first victim of Worcester Wolves’ poor start to the season.
The University of Worcester-based side have lost their first three British Basketball League matches, including a 100-71 home defeat against Sheffield Sharks, and have since released the point-guard.
The 28-year-old only signed for Chuck Evans’ team last month but the head coach feels it is in the best interests of the club.
Wolves have already switched their attention to a new player and could have someone in place before Saturday’s home match against Glasgow Rocks (7pm).
Evans said: ”It just hasn’t worked out and when you lose in front of your home fans everyone finds themselves under the microscope, including myself, and after much deliberation that was the decision we came to.
“We are looking at a player who can be a point-guard but do a bit more offensively. He’s a bit bigger and stronger so he can play another position if necessary and bit a bit more versatile.”
