FORMER King’s School Worcester pupil and Worcester Rowing Club member Sarah Cowburn is one of two county rowers named in the GB team that goes into the final phase of the World Cup season in Lucerne this weekend in pole position on the overall points table.
Cowburn will once again race in the women’s quadruple scull alongside Katie Greves, Beth Rodford and Rosamund Bradbury. The combination won silver in Munich, but will face even stronger competition in Switzerland.
Currently studying at Durham University, Cowburn is one of several young rowers who have stepped into the senior squad this year.
Meanwhile, Evesham Rowing Club’s Alex Gregory will race in the men’s four. The four took gold and bronze in earlier World Cup events and will certainly be looking for a further podium finish in Lucerne.
The GB Rowing Team leads the overall World Cup table with 161 points from Germany in second.
The World Rowing Championships will be held in Poznan, Poland, from 23-30 August, with the GB team to be announced on July 16.
