IT proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Worcester Raiders as they were held by the nine men of Brimscombe & Thrupp in a feisty stalemate.

Raiders started the weekend second in the Hellenic League Premier after Wednesday night's dramatic late win at Longlevens but dropped down to fourth after dropping points on Saturday.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men in just the 17th minute when Jamie Bremner was shown a straight red card.

There were differing reports of the injury on social media. Raiders' official Twitter account said it was a 'horrible' challenge.

Whilst the hosts' Twitter had a slightly different view, describing the decision a 'shambles'.

It was an intense half but there were not many chances to speak of, as Raiders dominated the ball and looked to tire the home side out with their man advantage.

And that advantage grew further mid-way through the second half when Oliver Pitt was shown a second yellow card, leaving Brimmy down to nine.

Jordan Murphy came close to finding the winner in the final ten minutes but on the stretch he wasn't able to provide the neccessary finish and keeper Jordan Schofield made the crucial save.

But in the end, the hosts managed to hold on and secure an unlikely point, whilst Raiders were left frustrated by theirs.

They are back in action on Wednesday night when they host rivals and fellow Worcestershire side Pershore Town at Sixways.
