WORCESTER City captain Chris Smith reckons this season has been the worst of his career to date.
Smith, 26, has been plagued by injury throughout the campaign, missing pre-season with an ankle problem, which has since caused him further grief, and now a back complaint suffered at Stalybridge.
He is also suspended for today's final home game of the season against Gainsborough and Monday's Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final first leg at Redditch.
With his contract up in the summer and the possiblity of City moving to Blue Square South, Smith admits this could be his swansong season at St George's Lane.
He would have preferred to have had a more successful campaign to look back on.
"It's probably been the worst season I have had since I started football," he said. "Because I missed pre-season training I don't think I have really caught up from that. If you are struggling with fitness you tend to get the muscle strains and your bones are working harder in different places.
"It's been really frustrating and I am disappointed in my year because I like to set myself standards and goals. It's my first year as captain and it would have been nice to play every game.
"I will have missed four games just with suspension, which is disappointing because it's my own fault.
"I have missed too many games and I have not been able to reach my goals and I don't think I have performed as well as I can. This looks like it might be my last year with Worcester so it would be nice to end on a high.
He added: "We look certain to be in the southern section. It's a long journey for me to come to Worcester and it's going to be hard for me to commit to mid-week. We will have to wait until the end of the season but it looks like it."
