MALVERN Town manager Les Jones and his assistant Derek Doyle will step down at the end of the season.
Jones is considering whether to take up a senior role on the club’s board as director of football.
They have guided Malvern to second in the West Midlands League Premier Division so far behind a dominant Wolverhampton Sporting Community side.
Town built on Thursday’s 3-2 win at Hereford Lads Club with a 4-1 weekend win at Wolverhampton Casuals.
Malvern chairman Chris Pinder said: “Under Les, Malvern’s league position and win-to-game ratio has improved every season.
“The stats speak for themselves — top-four finishes for the last four seasons and winning the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn in 2016.
“Les has set a very high bar for the next manager to surpass.
“It will be hard to find a manager as committed or who will give as much to the club.
“Les leaves the team in a significantly better position than when he became manager.
“Steadfast in the Town dug-out for the past seven seasons, he has built the foundations for our success and assembled a squad challenging for promotion so we have reason to be confident about the future.
“He deserves huge credit for the job he has done for so long.”
A club statement added: “Les will stay in position for our remaining fixtures this season and is considering whether to take up a senior role on the club’s board as director of football.
“The board acknowledges Derek’s contribution to the team’s achievements and his recruitment skills in recent years should also not be underestimated.
“The club are grateful to both Les and Derek and sincerely thank them for their service to Malvern Town FC.
“The club will announce the new first-team management in due course.”
Kyonn Evans bagged a hat-trick in Malvern's win at Casuals with substitute Matt Turner also on target with his first touch of the ball.
Town visit Tividale tomorrow with the hosts boasting games in hand in the battle at the top.
