WORCESTER St John’s Cycling Club were in action at the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists’ Bush Healthcare Pinvin road race.
In perfect racing conditions with little wind, the largely flat course was set over multiple laps to total 48 miles.
During the fiercely competitive A race, six riders split from the peloton to form a breakaway group.
St John’s were represented by Mark Corbett in fourth place and Mark Thomas in sixth.
Adrian Bird powered away from the bunch with half-a-lap remaining to grab seventh position.
The race was won by Paul Dring, who narrowly beat his brother Steve in the final sprint to achieve first place.
Saints rider Richard Rollason, who was starting his first race in a number of years, performed valiantly to finish in the bunch in the C category race.
