THE Vale Golf Club seniors’ section played their weekly competition on the International Course at Bishampton.
On a mild morning, heavy skies turned to bright sunshine and the 72 players completed their individual stableford rounds.
It was the final round for 2015 captain Rob Sharp before handing over to his successor David Rimell at the subsequent annual meeting.
Sharp won Division One with 41 points playing off his handicap of 12 ahead of Nic Fielden (35), Tony Hampson (34) and Jim Rushworth (34).
Division Two went to Mike Heard (38) in front of David Webb (35), who was also nearest the pin, David Viner (33) and John Nutman (33).
Tony Perryman topped Division Three followed by Hamish Whitehead, Mike Spittle and Larry Taylor with all scoring 33.
The combined efforts of the seniors’ section raised £4,250 for the local branch of Mencap.
The highlight of the annual meeting, attended by 53 members of the section, was Sharp’s presentation to Rimell of the new captain’s blazer.
Derek Lambert will be the vice-captain for 2016 and the captain’s charity for next year will be the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust.
Five members of the committee were due to retire and five replacements were appointed by a unanimous show of hands.
