HEREFORD United manager Martin Foyle says tomorrow’s FA Cup clash against rivals Shrewsbury Town boils down to making money and raising the club’s profile.

With the Bulls struggling financially and needing to find cash to pay outstanding tax bills, the first round encounter at Edgar Street (1pm) has come at the right time.

United are guaranteed a 50 per cent share of the gate profits — 3,000 tickets have already been sold — and £6,325 from ITV for extended television highlights.

They will bank £18,000 in prize money if they can topple the League One outfit, who are managed by ex-Bulls chief Graham Turner and yet to win away this season.

Foyle, whose Blue Square Bet Premier side are unbeaten in four matches following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Southport, said: “It’s a fantastic game and one that’s come at the right time for us.

“It’s hard times at the moment. But there is money from the television highlights and if we get a draw, it’s a replay, more cash and still a chance of going through.

“It’s all about finances now but, with a bigger crowd there, I don’t want us to let ourselves down because it’s a chance to get some punters through the gate against Luton next Tuesday.

“Shrewsbury’s away record is not brilliant but they like to play football so hopefully our pitch churns up.

“I don’t want them to get a foothold in the game early, we have to ensure we are in their faces and make it uncomfortable.”

Left-back Chris Carruthers (heel) and winger Marley Watkins (groin) are injured.

Shrewsbury could include ex-Hereford players Rob Purdie, Paul Parry and Chris Weale.

Should a replay be required it would take place at the Greenhous Meadow on the week commencing Monday, November 12.
