KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are determined to cause an FA Cup shock against Oldham Athletic tomorrow (3pm).

The sides lock horns at Aggborough for a first round clash which carries a prize fund of £18,000 for the winners.

Although there are 52 places between the League One Latics and Harriers, fourth-from-bottom in the Blue Square Bet Premier, manager Steve Burr fancies their chances.

Kidderminster, who won 4-2 at league rivals Grimsby in the fourth qualifying round, have only lost one of their last 12 games and aim to make it lucky 13.

Burr said: “We know how difficult it’s going to be, they have some quality in their side, but we have had a good look at them.

“It’s about what happens on the day and if we can have that rub of the green then who knows? One or two of our lads may make headlines for themselves.

“We are in good form and it disappoints me to see where we are in the league.

“We had a bad start but turned it round and our results have been good.

“We have been in the FA Trophy semi-finals since I’ve been in charge but the FA Cup is great so hopefully we can make the most of this one.

“I’ve had some good memories of the cup as a player and manager so hopefully we can cause a shock.

“It’s nice to get a break from the league and it’s a decent draw for us.”

Harriers, held to a 1-1 league draw by Gateshead last Saturday, are waiting on captain Keith Briggs as the midfielder is suffering with a tooth abscess.

Oldham, 17th in League One with one win in their last four matches, should have giant striker Matt Smith, who hails from Evesham, in their line-up.

The second round draw will be made on Sunday afternoon with Harriers, should they progress, number one in the hat.
