THIS is the little three-year-old boy who died in a road accident a week before Christmas.

Kerry Simpson holds her son Cameron in a photograph taken earlier this year.

He was killed when he was in collision with a taxi in Meadow Road, Droitwich, at 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Flowers and teddy bears have been laid at the scene.

In one tribute Cameron was described as a "lovable rogue", another read "Little man sleep tight. You have taken so many hearts with you, you won't ever be alone."

One woman who came to lay a bouquet of lilies at the scene was 24-year-old Natalie Brant who has known Cameron's mother, Kerry since she was 10. "Cameron was so good, he was fun-loving, just a sweet little boy," Miss Brant said.

"He was very clever, he would always answer the door when I went round to see them and he loved cars.

"He was always covered in chocolate and he always wanted me to do his nails. And he was always happy, I do not think I ever saw him cry."

Miss Brant's mother, Tanya, said: "As a mother and a parent you never think you are going to bury your child. It is just tragic.

"You feel for them so much because I do not feel it is something you ever come to terms with."

Cameron, who lived with his mother in Meadow Walk, was in collision with a silver Ford Transit mini-bus.

Anne Cloete, who lives opposite the accident scene, said it happened after Cameron had been in the minibus taxi with his mother and several other people.

"I saw his little body on the road, he was lifeless, I could not sleep last night because all I had in my head was that image, he was such a lovely kid."

A woman who had been in the taxi with Cameron and his mother gave the three-year-old mouth-to-mouth before the ambulance arrived, but despite everyone's best efforts he was pronounced dead at Worcestershire Royal Hospital later in the evening.

Cameron's step great-grandparents, whose step-grandson Kyle Gadsby, 18, was one of four teenagers tragically killed in a car crash on the A449 last year, visited the scene of the accident yesterday.

He said: "The whole family is devastated.

"On Saturday night we had a charity do for Kyle. Cameron had a balloon and he was playing with it. That was the last time we saw him, he was having a wonderful time."

The taxi which knocked Cameron over was licensed to Blue Door taxis in Droitwich. A spokeswoman for the taxi company said: "It was an awful tragedy and our thoughts are with the family at this stage."

Droitwich Police are appealing for witnesses. If anyone has information about the incident they are asked to contact police on 08457 444 888 quoting reference 434S/181207.
