THE motorcyclist who was killed in a crash yesterday evening has been named locally as a popular dentist from Worcester.
Friends and family have identified the biker as John Bue from The Green Dental Practice on Gresham Road.
The accident happened on the A4440 between Powick and Rushwick at about 5.00pm yesterday evening.
Councillor Margaret Layland, who helped Mr Bue set up the NHS dental surgery in 2002, said her "great friend" will be sadly missed.
Coun Layland, said: "I am absolutely devastated and the whole community is as well. My heart goes out to his family.
"He was a great bloke who was always friendly and jolly. He invested in Dines Green in a project which he believed in. He will be sadly missed."
The A4440 Hams Way was closed in both directons yesterday evening with heavy traffic compounded by people leaving Worcester races and spectators heading to the Twenty20 cricket match.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The rider had suffered very serious injuries. Ambulance staff immediately started resuscitation on arrival.
“The man was taken on blue lights to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. One of the aircrew paramedics went with the ambulance crew.
“Sadly shortly after arrival the man was confirmed dead.
“The driver of the car, a man estimated to be in his 20s or 30s, was taken to the same hospital suffering from shock.”
