THERE were drums and garlands aplenty in Worcester’s Dines Green yesterday as youngsters took part in a traditional May Day parade.
Led by their newly crowned May King and May Queen, children from Dines Green Primary School paraded up and down Tudor Way to celebrate May Day in the traditional way.
Headteacher Steve Gough said: “The weather held out for us and the day went really well.
“We started off with a May Day assembly, talking about all the different traditions behind May Day and what it really means.
“The children sang songs and then we marched with drums and garlands and made lots of noise up Tudor Way and back again.”
May Day parades are an old tradition at Dines Green Primary which were revived last year.
“It’s been really popular,” Mr Gough said. “We’ll certainly be having one again next year.”
