THE sons of a woman who died in a road accident have paid tribute to a ‘radiant’ mother and grandmother.
Norma Quick (christened Winifred) of Malvern died in Worcestershire Royal Hospital four days after the incident outside Brays on the A449, Worcester Road, Malvern, on Friday, July 25.
Mrs Quick was walking on the road when she was in collision with a blue Toyota Landcruiser.
She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries but died on Tuesday, July 29. The 87-year-old, who lived at Peterson Court, leaves sons Gary, 57, and Jeremy, 47, and granddaughter, seven-year-old Rachel.
Born in Neath, south Wales, in 1921, Norma served as a nurse during the Second World War and lived in Port Talbot where she ran ‘Norma’s’ – a successful ladies’ outfitters business – for 30 years before moving to Malvern in 1976. Gary Quick, said: “In Malvern mum settled down to a long and happy retirement, during which time she became well known in the town for her radiant, engaging personality and her spontaneous warmth and concern for other people.
“She was inspired by her strong religious faith and her unshakeable belief in the life to come.”
In her younger days, Norma was a member of the Red Cross and often raised money for the charity.
She also loved writing religious poetry and often attended Malvern Priory.
Mr Quick added: “Mum’s tragic death has brought sadness to so many people who knew her. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have sent cards and their condolences; it has been a great comfort to us.”
Mrs Quick’s funeral will take place at Worcester Crematorium on Thursday, August 14, at 11.30am. It will be family flowers only and donations can be made to homeless charity, Crisis, by anyone who wishes.
Worcestershire coroner Geraint Williams opened and adjourned an inquest into Mrs Quick’s death at Stourport-on-Severn yesterday.
