SIR – I’ve just received my gas and electricity bills.

They have pushed the price up and it wasn’t really necessary because the price of gas in the world market has gone down.

It appears the only main reason it’s gone up is because other members of the energy cartel have put their prices up.

The Government should really step in and stop this greedy lot.

I see in Belgium people have forced down their energy bills by clubbing together and all making a change to the lowest price.

Now this could happen here if all the housing associations got together and did the same.

All the council houses and the council itself could get together and accept the lowest price. It’s working in Belgium, so it should work here.

The councils, which means Malvern, Wychavon and all the other councils, schools, care homes and housing associations get together to get the lowest prices, this way everybody would benefit.

It seems the only way to beat the cartel.
