TONY Bird has guaranteed he will give his best for Harriers even if he continues to find goals hard to come by.
The former Welsh U-21 international forward has been moved into midfield due to injuries and players being rested.
And the competitive Bird, who remains on the transfer list, has contributed to a new solid look to the team which led to three 0-0's in a row, including Saturday at home to Darlington.
However, his own scoring record - five goals but all in cup matches and four as substitute - mirrors Harriers' current hapless efforts to find the net.
Bird, 26, said: "The gaffer wants me to drop into midfield because we have a couple of injuries but I don't mind it.
"Just as long as I'm on the field, I will always be playing at 110 per cent. I played in midfield once or twice at Cardiff. I've enjoyed it and hopefully that's reflected on the pitch.
"What happened with the transfer-listing gave me a good kick up the backside. It made me get my head down and I concentrated on working hard.
"The gaffer wants some stability in the team and we have been getting back to basics."
Bird, who scored a total of 31 Football League goals at Cardiff and Swansea, added: "If I score in every game, then that's ideal.
"But just as long as I'm working hard for the team and someone else gets a goal.
"We are creating some good chances but are not scoring. Three games have all been 0-0 but it's a good base to start from on the back of all the goals conceded before.
"We've stopped conceding, now we're not scoring. Something has got to give sooner or later."
Bird, well-known for his heading ability, had a couple of efforts on goal, including a long-range drive, but will be desperate for more accuracy in the penalty box.
