A MATURE student is hoping to follow his dream of completing a Masters degree thanks to an academic scholarship from the University of Worcester.
Student Dan Roach is nearing the completion of a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the University and now has the chance to continue his studies. He has received £1,000 from the University’s Scholarship Panel after scoring consistently high results in his Second Year examinations.
He said: “Out of eight modules I got seven As and one B. I was so delighted when the head of art at the university called me one day and said she had some good news for me. I’m so grateful. I have put the money towards completing a Masters, which I hope to do either next year or the year after.”
The 34-year-old, who lives near the Arboretum, is currently looking to apply to the Royal College of Art, the Royal Academy of Art, and Camberwell College of Art and Design.
The father-of-one said: “It’s only because of this scholarship that I’m really in a position to chase the Masters at this time.
“I have really enjoyed the course here at the University of Worcester. The level of expertise here is fantastic and the commitment to help students is unsurpassed.”
University of Worcester vice chancellor Professor David Green said: “At the University of Worcester we want to see our students achieve their dreams and we will do all we can to help. Dan is a very talented artist. His excellent record of achievement shows that he thoroughly deserves this scholarship.”
