AN elderly woman has died in a house fire this morning.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to Mount Orchard in Tenbury Wells at 5.54am on Saturday.
Four crews were sent to the scene and firefighters found the 99-year-old woman in the bedroom of her bungalow.
She was taken outside into a waiting ambulance but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire started in the lounge of the bungalow and an investigation is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
Alec Mackie, spokesman for the fire service, said the lounge and some of the roof has been badly damaged by the fire.
The identity of the woman is not known.
