A NAKED calendar featuring a Worcestershire student has raised more than £1,000 in its first hour of being on sale.
Cathy Righton, a 22-year-old from Hill, near Pershore, chose to support her fellow students at the Harper Adams University College in Shropshire, along with the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution by stripping off for the fund-raising calendar.
Miss Righton, whose family runs an arable and beef farm, appears on the front page of the calendar alongside fellow members of the summer ball committee.
She is the committee’s site manager, and some of the proceeds from calendar sales will be used to help stage the highly popular annual event, with the rest going to the charity.
She said: “I wouldn’t normally just get naked in the principal’s garden but as it was for a good cause it would have been rude not to.
“It was a very cold windy day – it was very amusing setting up the picnic scene in the principal’s garden and at one point we needed considerably bigger buns! What’s a bit of nakedness between friends.”
Miss Righton, who previously attended Saint Mary’s Convent School in Worcester and Prince Henry’s High School in Evesham hopes to go travelling when she graduates next year, before seeking a position related to her degree. She appears alongside several students and a couple of staff members in the Cream of the Crop calendar.
Organisers Paul White and Louise Elliott, both final year students, were delighted that it was an instant hit.
“We sold about 200 copies in the first hour, bringing in about £1,200. We’ve had to order more,” she added.
