PLANS to build hundreds of homes and a sports centre as part of the urban extension of Worcester have been revealed.
The latest proposals to develop land off Martley Road are for 372 homes, a sports pavilion, a number of grass and artificial pitches, a pump track and a play area.
The developer behind the scheme is Bloor Homes, which saw plans for 311 homes off Martley Road approved in May and will eventually supply almost three-quarters of the 2,000 or so new homes that will make up the urban extension.
Details of the latest plans show the housing will be a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached houses as well as flats.
Bloor plans to make 269 homes available on the open market. There would also be 93 affordable homes - both social rented housing and ‘intermediate housing’, which is provided at a cost above social rent but below market levels.

The 10-metre high sports pavilion is proposed to include a sports hall and other multi-use spaces, a kitchen, storage areas and changing facilities.
If approved by Malvern Hills District Council, the development would include two full-size sports pitches - one grass and one 3G artificial turf.
There would also be four multi-use games area (MUGA) pitches and three grass pitches for youth sports.
Planning documents also mention a “kick about area”, a pump track and an “informal recreational area” to the east of the application site.
The sports centre would be served by a car park with space for 120 cars and two minibuses, plus overflow parking and a drop-off/pick-up area.
“Access into the sports pavilion area will be gained from the spine road running along the northern boundary of this area.”
Planning documents say the entire application site is within Flood Zone 1, which is the lowest risk area categorised by the Environment Agency.
But flooding is among the objections raised by residents, who are also concerned about the impact the developments will have on “already congested” roads.
Neighbours also want to see a commitment from developers to build new schools, doctors surgeries and dentists in the area.
