Plans for a large development of 311 homes on land off Martley Road have been approved.
The scheme by Bloor Homes forms part of the urban extension of Worcester, which will see more than 2,000 homes built to the west and south of the city.
Outline permission for this development in Lower Broadheath was granted more than three years ago, but the developer still needed approval for the layout and design of homes as well as access to the site.
That has now been given by Malvern Hills District Council planners.
Planning documents confirm the number of homes being built on the site has increased from 310 to 311 since plans were submitted in 2021.
Bloor Homes says the plan is now for 57 two-bedroom homes to go onto the open market, along with 114 three-bedroom homes and 79 four-bedroom houses.
According to the plans: “The proposed development will create housing choice and new amenity spaces for the new community whilst improving public access across the site and to the wider pedestrian network.
“The scheme delivers a range of family housing from 1/2 bedroom apartments and bungalows through to larger four-bedroom detached houses.
“The design and layout have been carefully considered to create a new built environment for the 21st century that will accord with the principles of high-quality design and good practice.
“The main vehicular access point is proposed off the existing Martley Road. Meanwhile, other pedestrian links such as the Public Right of Way from the north of the development, links to those to the south as well as future options to connect to the east, ensuring permeability throughout the scheme.”
The urban extension, which will eventually see Bloor Homes building up to 1,400 homes west of Dines Green and St John’s, will also see Taylor Wimpey build 483 and Redrow 439.
The huge scheme could also include a new community centre, primary school, GP surgery and care home, shops, pubs, restaurants, and sports and leisure facilities.
