TWO men were arrested after a woman was taken to hospital following alleged spiking.

They  had attempted to flee the scene after allegedly spiking drinks and giving them to a female in Marilyn's nightclub in Evesham last weekend.

A 30-year-old and a 22-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of drink spiking and sexual assault.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after she became unconscious.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "When officers attended the scene, door staff made them aware of the two men as they had gathered them into the entrance corridor of the nightclub.

"One of them had been observed taking a drink off the bar, placing a suspected drug into it before encouraging a female to drink it. It was also alleged that this man had touched her inappropriately.

"This action forms part of Anti-Spiking Intensification Week, where the force will be highlighting the work it carries out all year round to tackle this type of crime."

The incident took place on Friday (March 15) and went into the early hours of Saturday morning.

The two men have been bailed while further enquiries are carried out.
