FLOWERS have been left at the scene of an alleged murder victim as the city mourns the death of a much-loved mum described as 'one in a million' by her family.
Bouquets of flowers have been left at Haresfield Close in Warndon, Worcester following the death of Wendy Francis on Saturday in an alleged murder which has left her family heartbroken and shocked and saddened people across the community.
The 61-year-old has been described by her family as a "much-loved lady" who will be "hugely missed".
Stacey Hill, aged 38, was found with life-threatening injuries but is now in a stable condition.
Damian Homer, of Haresfield Close in Worcester, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Monday.
Homer is accused of the murder of Wendy Francis and the attempted murder of Stacey Hill.
The 50-year-old, who wore a grey jumper, confirmed his name and date of birth at the start of the hearing in Courtroom 1.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the incident which happened at 8.30pm.
In a statement, Wendy’s family said: “Wendy will be hugely missed; she was one in a million and much-loved.”
Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding of the Murder Investigation Unit said: "I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

"You will notice a higher police presence in the area in the coming days as officers investigate this incident.
"Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has sadly lost her life."
Cllr Jill Desayrah, who represents Warndon on Worcester City Council, said: “Last weekend’s terrible events have shocked and saddened the local community.
"Wendy was much loved and highly valued and will be greatly missed. Many are struggling to imagine how or why it happened. Answers and redress will be delivered in due course but in the meantime I’d like to extend my sympathies to her family, friends and neighbours.”
