SMOKE was pouring from a bin lorry that caught fire on a busy Worcester road forcing it to close.
Fire crews have been called out to the lorry after a fire started in its compactor on Blackpole Road and Field Road this morning (Friday).
Rubbish has been dumped onto the road while firefighters dealt with the blaze.
Drivers have been told to expect disruption as fire crews close the road in both directions because of the heavy smoke from the incident.

Rubbish was removed from the rear of the lorry and placed in the road while fire crews used a damping down process using one hose reel jet.
One crew from Worcester Fire Station and another from Droitwich were sent to Blackpole Road
A thermal image camera was used to inspect the lorry with arrangements being made to remove the rubbish from the road.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “HWFR was called out at 11.48am today (Friday) to a bin lorry on fire in Worcester.
“One crew from Worcester Fire Station attended Blackpole Road, near the junction with Field Road, to tackle the fire in the lorry’s compactor area and they were joined by another engine from Droitwich.
“One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire while Blackpole Road was temporarily closed in both directions due to smoke from the incident.
“Waste was removed from the rear of the vehicle with damping down in progress using one hose reel jet.

“A thermal image camera was used to inspect the lorry with arrangements being made to remove the rubbish from the road.
“The Worcester crew was still at the scene at 12.37pm.”
An eyewitness said: "There is a bin lorry fire on the corner of Blackpole Road and Field Road.
"Started at around 11.50pm and fire appliance arrived at 11.55pm.
"Fire was out at around four minutes later.
"The lorry has now gone, but a large pile of rubbish is on the road which has started to be collected at 1pm."
