A MAN admitted drink-driving an e-scooter on a city road before crashing into a parked car and injuring himself, a court heard.
Magistrates fined Ian Bird and banned him from driving when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (September 1).
Bird, of Sansome Place, Worcester, admitted drink-driving and driving without a licence, but denied an offence of having no insurance.
Mehree Kamranfar, prosecuting, said the pleas were acceptable, withdrawing the insurance offence.
Ms Kamranfar said on August 13 this year Bird had been riding an e-scooter in Droitwich Road at 11pm.
"He collided with a parked car, causing front end damage to the vehicle," the prosecutor.
"He received cuts to his knee and hands.
"Members of the public found him on the ground and waited with him until police arrived."
Ms Kamranfar said at the police station he gave a reading of 70mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg.
She added Bird, who had no previous motoring convictions, had told police he had been to a BBQ and had a "couple of drinks" driving the scooter to get home.
The 41-year-old, defending himself, said he had nothing to say about the offence as the prosecutor had covered it all.
Dean Johnson, the chairman of the magistrates bench, said he would receive a mandatory disqualification and asked if he would be interested in taking a drink-drive awareness course.

Bird replied: "I have an eye condition that doesn't allow me to drive anyway."
The chairman said they were banning Bird from driving for 18 months but offered him the course that could reduce the ban by 18 weeks if successfully completed.
Mr Johnson explained it was up to him he wanted to take up that offer.
The chairman added: "If you scooter on a public road you will be committing a very serious offence for which you could go to prison."
Bird was fined £120, and ordered to pay £48 victim surcharge.
Magistrates agreed the total amount, £168, could be deducted from his benefits.
