THREE business were hit in an early morning crime spree in Warndon.
William Hill, the Ma Baker, and Engie, all in Cranham Drive, were all targeted during the offence splurge, which happened at around 2.30am on Tuesday morning.
The offenders managed to get into the William Hill bookmakers shop after smashing through the front door glass panel door. It is unclear what, if anything, was taken.
Meanwhile Wayne Higgs, site manager at energy firm Engie, said the offenders were likely to be youths as they broke into their shop, but stole nothing, only opening one drawer.
“We are lucky,” he said.
“But we will have to replace the door which will cost £800.
“It isn’t a quiet area, drug dealing goes on around here.
“We have been broken into before, when they stole a laptop.”
Sam Barriscale, owner of Ma Baker bakery, said: “They kicked the door in, but didn’t enter.
“Luckily, we just needed to replace the lock.
“The alarm went off here, which alerts me.
“Police were out on the road, round the corner at the time, and some of the people in flats shouted out to them.
“I think it was just kids as they didn’t come in.”
Yesterday, the cracked glass panel had been covered up on the door which the offenders damaged at the William Hill shop.
Staff at the shop referred the Worcester News to their head office but nobody from William Hill was available to comment on the offence.
Warndon Police community support officer David Anderson said: “We were called at 2.30am.
“We are still investigating, there have been no arrests yet.
“Anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call West Mercia Police on 101.
The offences on Tuesday are the latest crime spree in the area.
Last September, there was a spate of attempts to break-in to businesses in Warndon, which included the Sainsbury’s petrol station, the Co-op shop and another commercial property in Ambleside Drive.
