A chainsaw was used to gain rapid entry into a suspected drugs den in a pre-dawn raid.
Police smashed their way into a suspected drugs den on Rodborough Drive, Warndon, Worcester, in the swoop today before two arrests were made.
Led by detective Inspector Tony Garner, six specialist entry officers and four plain clothes detectives executed the drugs warrant at 6.20am, finding what is believed to be a quantity of heroin.
Once entry had been gained, detectives made their way up the stairs, and were quickly able to identify what they suspected to be the class A substance.
Two women, aged 27 and 36, were then arrested from the property on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin.
The pair were led out of the property as dawn began to break at around 6.50am and into a waiting police van.
“A substance, suspected to be heroin, has been obtained and the similar paraphernalia that goes with drug dealing, so the wraps, scales and mobile phones, have been found,” said Inspector Garner.
“Two females have been arrested.”
Detective Inspector said the key to solving the city’s drugs problem was “for people to come forward” and work with the constabulary.
He said he is keen to encourage residents to continue to go to the police if they suspect there is drug dealing going on in their community.
“It’s not nice having drug dealers on their doorstep,” said the detective inspector.
“Whilst we have been sorting this out, there’s already been one neighbour who has come out and offered their support and talked to the officers about what is going on,” he continued.
“The key to solving this problem is for people to come forward and say what’s going on in their neighbourhood.”
Many of the city’s dealers are suspected of having links to gangs using established supply lines to bring drugs into the county from elsewhere.
Operation Blade, which launched in September, is a project to push back the cross-border gangs.
