THE historic Cardinal's Hat pub is set to feature on a Channel 4 reality television programme next week.
The Friar Street pub, which dates back to the 14th century and is thought to be Worcester's oldest, will be the focus of a Four in a Bed episode screening on Tuesday, November 14.
The popular show takes owners of bed-and-breakfasts from across the country, and sends them to each others' establishments, marking them on various criteria such as cleanliness, how the hosts are, food and value for money.
Cardinal's Hat owner Nigel Smith welcomed owners of other establishments including in Wales and Dorset for the competition, and made the return trip.
Keen to not give anything away before the shows are broadcast, Mr Smith was able to say it had been interesting opportunity to take part in the programme.
"It was a very, unique experience," he said.
"It was hard work but one that was very enjoyable. We were proud to showcase the boutique city rooms and pub.
"I am very pleased that I did it."
Mr Smith features on the programme throughout next week, screening each night at 5pm on Channel 4, with Cardinal's Hat at the centre of Tuesday's episode.
The pub is award winning, winning the Worcester Customer Service Awards 2016 Platinum Award for Food & Drink and being a commended finalist in the best guest accommodation category of the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence 2017 awards.
