A MYSTERIOUS sea of small polystyrene balls has appeared on a trading estate in Droitwich.
The pool of small, white balls has been seeping through a fence at the corner of George Baylis Road and Kidderminster Road, Droitwich, and appears to be growing.
The white balls were first noticed by Worcester News reader Steven Young on Monday who described them as a "mountain of little balls" which he believed was on the site of Slaters Old Yard.
However, by Tuesday, the pile had almost doubled in size.
It is not yet known where the balls are coming from and why they appear to be escaping through the fence.
However, Wychavon District Council said they had received a report about the situation and officers would be investigating.
Mark Edwards, senior waste management officer for Wychavon, said: “This was reported to us this morning (Tuesday) and an officer visited earlier today.
"The material is believed to be non hazardous polystyrene balls.
"We are contacting the company who owns the site to determine the cause and to arrange for the appropriate cleansing.”
