A CAR was engulfed in flames in a supermarket car park.
A fire crew from Droitwich was sent to the blaze in the Lidl car park, on Newtown Road, Worcester.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the incident at 9.28pm last night (May 20).
Calin Brutus, aged 38, from Worcester, was at the scene before the firefighters arrived.
He said: "I was concerned it might explode. It was a shock, a big black smoke cloud.
"You do not see a car on fire in a parking lot every day.
“I did not see the fire service as I kept on driving. There was a crowd in front of the store already.
“I assumed somebody already reported this.”
The eyewitness said he saw the blaze at 9.33pm.
It is not clear how the fire started.
The incident occurred opposite Turnpike House Medical Centre, which houses Murrays Pharmacy, Haresfield Surgery and St Martin's Gate Surgery.
Lidl was approached for comment.
