A BARGAIN store has opened its doors for business.
Discount shop B&M opened earlier today (Friday) when the mayor of Worcester, councillor Paul Denham cut the ribbon, with representatives from St Richard's Hospice also attending.
The store, which is famous for its value prices and variety of products, has already created more than 40 new jobs.
Cllr Denham said: "It has already created over 40 new jobs, which is good news for people looking for work in Worcester.
"B&M already have a very successful store in Tallow Hill which led to them to wanting to open a store here.
"With the expansion of Worcester and thousands of new houses in this area, it gives people an extra place to shop."
The new shop has opened at the former Homebase site in Bath Road, Broomhall, and will be next door to the new Aldi shop opening in the spring.
Loyal customer, Jill Brookes had travelled from Droitwich to see the new store and was impressed by it.
Mrs Brookes said: "You get good bargains at B&M and always find what you are looking for.
"I like seeing different stores and although there is a store in Droitwich, I prefer the layout of the shop here, you can go up and down the aisles more easily."
Andrea Partington, deputy manager of the city centre store who has helped setting it up said: "It has already brought jobs to the area and offers great prices on branded items.
"The variety is also a big thing for shoppers, people are surprised when they come here, they see things and think oh I didn't know B&M sold this or that."
Dave Martin, a customer who lives opposite the store said: "I am not a regular customer at the moment as it has not been convenient for me but it is healthy competition for other shops in the area."
The new shop manager, Andrew Bradley, said: “The team from St Richard’s Hospice really stood out for us as they do so much for the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
"The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open on Friday and show customers their new B&M Broomhall.”
