A LOCAL college has been nominated for a technology award for the second time in three years.
Heart of Worcestershire College has again been nominated for the TES outstanding use of technology for the improving teaching, learning and assessment award.
Speaking about the college’s nomination Peter Kilcoyne, ILT director, said: “We are thrilled to be nominated for the award for the second time in three years.
"The ILT team consistently work to improve interactive online resources and this nomination highlights their hard work both in the College and in the wider sector.”
The college won the award in 2015 and it this year recognises the setting up of further education; the blended learning consortium.
The consortium is made up of over 80 colleges who work collaboratively to co-fund the development of interactive online learning resources which are then shared with all member colleges.
The resources are written by curriculum experts from across the consortium to create interactive, engaging learning resources that improve vocational skills and support academic studies.
The consortium, hopes that the pooling of resources is making huge efficiency savings for all member colleges.
Rather than one college spending £5k on developing its own resources and getting £5k worth of resources, this collaborative approach means that all members get over £400k worth of resources for their £5k contribution.
Winners will be announced at the TES Further Education Awards ceremony on Friday February 24.
