A PETROL tanker broke down on the motorway after its tyre caught fire, causing the closure of an exit slip road.
The incident happened at around 8.30pm and forced Highways England to close the slip at junction six on the M5 southbound.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and recovery crews removed the vehicle at 9.30pm.
