A DROITWICH woman who moved to Turkey says it was an "honour" to open a new supermarket in her village.
Margaret Richards, 67, moved to the coastal village of Turunç 11 years ago with her husband, Roger, when he retired.
Upon hearing a new shop, called A101, was to open in the village, she went along to see if she could promote it through a community Facebook page she helps to run.
"Yesterday (Wednesday), the manager of A101 asked me if I would cut the red ribbon for the opening - I was so surprised," said Mrs Richards, who was born in Droitwich and lived in Albert Street.
She continued: "It was an honor and privilege to be asked to do this. I do love the people here. Turunç is only small - just like Droitwich was years back - and I still think of myself as a Droitwich 'monner'."
