THE future of the children's playground in Malvern's Priory Park is up for consultation.

Malvern Hills District Council has got money from planning agreements - known as section 106 funding - to improve play provision in the park, next to Malvern Theatres.

The project will include improvements to the existing play area, but the council is also keen to find out what else people would like to see in the park.

Residents and park users are being asked to complete a short online survey which will help officers work up some designs for the new play area.

Views are being sought on a range of issues including the size of the existing play area, the excitement factor of the play equipment and whether or not there should be a separate area created elsewhere in the park, which could be just for teenagers to use.

The project is part of the council’s commitment in its new five-year plan to spend up to £10million in play areas and new open spaces by 2021.

Cllr David Watkins, the council's portfolio holder for healthier communities, said: “Rather than design something we think young people and parents want, we want to give them and other park users the opportunity to tell us what they think the new play area should look like and anything else they would like to see.

"This is an exciting opportunity and I’d urge people to take a few minutes to complete the survey and give us their views.”

The survey can be found at malvernhills.gov.uk/public-notices, and the deadline for responses is Sunday, June 5.
