LAS VEGAS may be thousands of miles away, but all its glitz and glamour was brought to Worcester for a charity ball which raised more than £9,000.

Hundreds of party goers enjoyed Kings Hawford Las Vegas Ball and raised the whopping total for St Richard’s Hospice, which cares for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

More than 200 people filled the ballroom at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford, on Saturday, February 6, and guests enjoyed the ball in style.

Jim Turner, head master of Kings Hawford School, said: "We were delighted to support the valuable work of St. Richard's at the Las Vegas Ball. It was a most enjoyable evening and one in which we were able to raise funds to assist the hospice while having a terrific evening in a perfect venue.”

Following an indulgent three course meal, entertainment was provided by Steve Maitland and his Big Swing Band and a performance by the Las Vegas dancers.

This was followed by a disco and a casino provided entertaining games such as Blackjack and Roulette.

Jayne Sargeant, St Richard’s Hospice community fundraiser, said; “We are most grateful to the Kings Hawford School and the Bank House Hotel, and to everyone involved in making the evening such a success.

"We would like to thank everyone who generously supported the raffle on the evening, and thank all the local businesses who provided a range of wonderful prizes."

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,600 patients and family members in Worcestershire with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
