A GANG of men were arrested after a resident reported suspicious activity in the Primsland area of Droitwich.
Late on Monday night five men, described by West Mercia Police as "young" and "from the West Midlands region", were taken into police custody on suspicion of theft.
Four were later released without charge, while one man has been bailed in connection with a driving offence.
David Knight, Inspector for Wychavon, said: "Further investigation revealed that no crime had taken place, albeit the arrests certainly prevented that taking place."
Officers from the Operations Patrol Unit, Central Motorway Police Group and the South Worcestershire region were called to the scene on Monday night.
He urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious behaviour to the Droitwich police team.
"We do have officers on the ground 24/7 in Droitwich, however we need calls from the public to be able to point us in the right direction and let us know what's going on," added Inspector Knight.
Contact police on the non-emergency number 101 to report suspicious activity.
