THE streets of Worcester will be turned into an open air showroom once again next week, as the Worcester Motor Festival makes its return.

Now in its ninth year, the festival will once again see an array of the latest cars and vehicles on display in the city centre along with truly classic models, but this year will also see new attractions and guests making it "bigger and better" than ever before.

Ian Cook, of PopbangColour, is an innovative artists who paints striking car designs using a fleet of remote controlled cars who will be demonstrating his unique talent on the day.

Probably his most famous artwork, the Morgan Three-Wheeler, will be on display at the festival and Mr Cook will also be hosting a workshop for people to have a go at coming up with their own creations using his remote controlled cars.

Mr Cook, whose Morgan Three-Wheeler was recently on display at the Geneva Motor Show, said: "I'm looking forward to it and I'm excited to be taking part in the festival.

"I really want the kids to be able to have a go and ask as many questions as they want to. You really can paint with whatever you can get your hands on.

"I'm proud to be able to bring the Morgan Three-Wheeler along, it's taken on a life of its own.

"Kids can have a go at painting during the workshops, and I hope to inspire the next remote controlled car artist."

This year visitors can get a taste of what it's really like to be a high-octane Formula 1 driver with a new cockpit simulator, and take on all challengers on a Scalextric racetrack.

As well as 50 of the latest car and motorcycle vehicles there will be an array of police cars, military vehicles and Shelsley Walsh race cars on display.

Nadja von Dahlen, marketing and events manager of Worcester BID which is hosting the event in partnership with the Worcester News, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Ian will be showcasing his fun style of work to create motoring themed art live at our event here in Worcester city centre.

"The Worcester Motor Festival will be even bigger and better this year."

As well as all this there will be colouring competitions, a window dressing competition, face-painting and a range of other activities to ensure there's something for everyone.

Live folk, rock and blues bands will provide the musical backdrop to the day, and there will also be street performers in the shape of stilt cyclists, traditional dance acts, saxophone choirs and much more.

The festival is scheduled to go ahead on Saturday, May 16, from 9am until 5pm.
