A NEW home for Lower Moor post office, near Pershore, has been officially launched.
The branch temporarily closed in May but Evesham post office stepped in and agreed to provide a “hosted outreach service” for the village from the parish hall.
An official opening ceremony took place on Thursday (November 13) and retired postman Gordon Mason had the honour of cutting the ribbon.
He said: “The Post Office is vital to the community in Lower Moor and I'm sure the new service will be warmly welcomed by everyone.”
The Lower Moor post office will be available from 9am to 12.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, providing a range of services including mail, passport applications, money exchange and banking.
Jonathan Bumphrey, postmaster at Evesham post office, said: “As a community retailer, we are delighted to be able to offer post office services to customers in Lower Moor."
Richard Lynds, a post office senior stakeholder manager, added: “We know how important post office services are to residents in the local parish and we are confident that this hosted outreach service presents the best possible solution to restore post office services in the Lower Moor area.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the post office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
