WORKERS from Severn Trent Water worked through the night on Christmas Eve and through Christmas Day to stop a burst pipe in Pershore ruining resident’s celebrations.
The pipe burst at about 4am yesterday and teams were on the scene before supply to homes had even been affected.
Area leakage manager Martin Skyba said workers were on hand every day of the year to deal with problems.
“There was a real possibility that this could spoil Christmas Day for our customers, so we acted fast,” he said. "We know how important it is to have water on the big day - how else can you cook the sprouts?
“We managed the job as we would any other day of the year - quickly and safely, and we were able to restore water supplies within two hours, meaning the sprouts were safe."
Anyone with problems with water supplies can be reported to Severn Trent Water on 0800 783 4444.
