UPDATE: Disappointed fans offered rugby tickets after fireworks display ended early
A FIREWORK display at Worcester Warriors Sixways ground had to be cancelled yesterday after high winds blew fireworks on to the stand and a marquee.
Fire fighters were called to the stadium on the edge of Worcester at 7.48pm to deal with three small fires.
A fire service spokesman said that the pyrotechnics had started fires on the roof of the west stand, and the Sixways Suite as well as on a marquee.
Fire crews used ladders to reach the firers and put them out with buckets of water.
The rugby club is expected to issue a statement about the incident tomorrow.
Nobody was hurt in the incidents.
