IT was a long journey down the M5 for volunteers from Adlestrop Consulting in Worcester when they took on the challenge of sprucing up the garden of a family centre for children with sight and hearing impairments in Bristol.
Legal consultant Francesca Weaver and marketing manager Jade Soer were joined by Lydia Clark from national deafblind charity Sense to revamp its garden, so that visitors to the centre could make the most of the outdoors space in the summertime.
Helen Potter, a senior children and family support worker for the centre, said: “We are hugely grateful to the volunteers for their hard work. The fact that the children now have a beautiful garden to play in is fantastic. It’s always great to know the support we have from people and to help us spread the word about the work we do.”
Miss Soer added: "Visiting the centre was a real eye opener for us. It was really encouraging to see where all money raised for the charity goes. The centre is a fantastic place for families and children to develop, relax and just have fun. Sprucing up the garden was the least we could do to help the children get the most out of it. We can’t wait to visit again.”
Alongside volunteering at the centre, Adlestrop Consulting will be fundraising throughout this year with a series of events to help raise £5,000 for the charity. To help the Adlestrop team raise £5,000 for Sense go to: justgiving.com/Adlestrop-Consulting1
