WORCESTER’S main Remembrance Sunday commemoration is the community’s chance to remember all those who have given their lives for peace and freedom, both in the two world wars and in subsequent conflicts worldwide.
A service will take place at Worcester Cathedral at 10am, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in the cathedral grounds. This will incorporate the two minutes’ silence at 11am, which will end with the firing of a gun, followed by the playing of the Last Post.
Mayor of Worcester Cllr Steve Mackay said: “This will be a solemn, important and moving ceremony to remember the many people who have fallen to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. I hope as many people as possible are able to attend.”
Other organisations involved in Worcester’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations include contingents from 214 Battery Royal Artillery. the Royal British Legion, Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association, navy, army and air force cadets, emergency services and scouts and guides.
The service will be followed by a parade along High Street, with the mayor and the lord lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft taking the salute outside the Guildhall.
In Evesham, members of the town council and local organisations will be attending the Remembrance Day parade and service on Sunday.
The event starts at 10.15am in the Market Square with a parade to the war memorial, led by Avonbank Band and the ex-service Standard Bearers.
At 11am, a two minutes’ silence will be observed and wreaths will be placed, followed by a service of remembrance at All Saints' Church.

On Sunday, the Pershore Remembrance Parade will march off from the Asda car park at 10.10am. The parade, led by a piper, will march into the High Street and Broad Street to Pershore Abbey. After the service in Pershore Abbey the parade will return to the car park, with the salute being taken outside Pershore Town Hall.
In Malvern on Saturday, there will be a short service at 10.45am at the war memorial in Great Malvern Priory.
For Remembrance Sunday itself, the parade will muster in Graham Road at 1.50pm, and then march to the library, where a short service and a wreath-laying will take place.
The parade will then re-form in Graham Road and march to the priory for a service of remembrance that starts at 3pm.
